1How can I clean/disinfect the reusable ear funnels?
In an autoclave at 134°C for at least 3 min. or disinfect with an agent such as Helipur.
2How can I clean my KaWe Piccolight otoscope?
The otoscope can be disinfected by being wiped with a cloth that has been moistened with alcohol (such as isopropyl alcohol).
3How do I replace the light source of a KaWe otoscope with a conventional light?

3Was is the blue filter and why do I need it?
The blue filter can be used to examine and/or monitor eye disorders such as blood circulation problems, tumours or changes in the choroid as well as blood vessel abnormities.

The use of dermoscopy liquid is not absolutely necessary; however its use does reduce the possible occurrence of reflections.

KaWe laryngoscope blades can be sterilized up to 4,000 times.
4Are KaWe laryngoscope blades compatible with other manufacturer’s handles?
KaWe laryngoscope blades are compatible with all handles that are manufactured in accordance with the DIN ISO 7376 standard.
5Can KaWe laryngoscopes be used in MRI scanners?
No, all KaWe laryngoscopes contain metal and are therefore not suitable for use in MRI scanners.

Blood pressure measuring


1How do I clean my blood pressure monitor?

Cleaning:

To clean the device, please use only a soft dry cloth.br />Reusable cuff: When necessary, wipe the cuff clean with a damp cloth.


Disinfection:

Monitor:To clean the instrument by hand, we recommend applying the disinfecting agent Mikrozid Sensitiv Liquid (Schülke & Mayr) and letting it sit at least 5 minutes before wiping it off.

Reusable cuff: Clean the cuff by wiping it with a damp cloth and disinfecting it with soap or a disinfecting agent. The durability of these cuffs was tested with the following recommended disinfecting agents: Buraton (liquid), Cidex®, Ethanol (70%), isopropyl-alcohol (70%), Mikrozid® and Sporicidin®. After disinfecting the cuff, rinse it with water and hang it to air dry.

2What material are KaWe blood pressure cuffs made of?
KaWe blood pressure cuffs are made of nylon.
3Do KaWe blood pressure cuffs contain latex?
No, all KaWe cuffs are latex-free.
4Do KaWe blood pressure cuffs contain phthalate?
No, all KaWe cuffs are biocompatible and free of softeners/phthalate.
5How long will my KaWe blood pressure cuff last?
KaWe cuffs are extremely durable and can be used up to 50,000 times.
6What does the term “shock protected” mean?
KaWe gauges are protected against overpressure and are equipped with a corrosion-free precision measuring element that can withstand blows and falls of up to 1 m and still provide exact and dependable measurements without needing recalibration.
7What are the advantages of KaWe blood pressure monitors with double tubes?
The membrane-protecting double tube technology ensures a maximum lifespan even when used on a daily basis. This technology sends the pump force from the bulb first through the cuff and then on to the gauge in a dampened manner. In this way, the increasing pressure in the cuff is shown without over-swinging the dial, thus protecting the measuring mechanism.schont.

Yes, KaWe blood pressure monitors can be used with all available KaWe cuff sizes.
10Must my KaWe blood pressure monitor be serviced regularly?
In accordance with the Medical Device Directive, blood pressure monitors must undergo a calibration check every two years.
11Where can I send in my KaWe blood pressure monitor to have its calibration checked and how much does this cost?

A calibration check can be performed by the manufacturer or by an authorized service provider in accordance with the Medical Device Directive.

SwiSto Iontophorese


1Which body parts can be treated using the SwiSto?
The SwiSto set can be used to treat the hands and feet. In addition, surface electrodes can be purchased separately for this set for the treatment of underarm perspiration.
2Under which circumstances can tap water iontophoresis treatment notbe carried out?
  • Implanted electronic devices (such as a pacemaker)
  • Pregnancy
  • Metal implants in the body near the treatment area where current will be flowing (arms or legs)
  • Intrauterine devices containing metal (contraceptive coils) when treating the feet
  • Larger-sized skin irregularities that cannot be covered with Vaseline or insulating bandages/wrap
  • Cardiac arrhythmia or lack of sensitivity to painful stimuli
3 How should I clean my KaWe SwiSto iontophoresis device?
  • Empty the treatment tubs.
  • Wipe treatment tubs, electrodes and connector cables with a dry cloth and then disinfect as follows:
    Apply any commercially available disinfecting agent such as Bode Bacillol®, Braun Meliseptol® or Orochemie B30. Heed the instructions given by the manufacturer of the disinfecting agent. The surface that is to be disinfected must be wiped with just enough pressure as to ensure that the surface is sufficiently moistened and enough disinfecting agent has been applied. The applied disinfecting agent must be allowed to dry on the surface; the surface is not to be wiped dry. The above-mentioned disinfecting agent must be left on for a minimum of 5 minutes.
  • The SwiSto3 iontophoresis device is to be wiped down as described above on a weekly basis.
  • Treatment tubs, electrodes and cables are to be disinfected before each treatment.
  • Sponge pockets and foam mats can be rinsed out with warm water, but not with any cleaning agents and for hygienic reasons, are only to be used on one and the same patient.

1How can I clean my KaWe stethoscope?
The headpiece and rubber tube can be wiped clean with alcohol or a mild soap solution. The ear tips can be unscrewed and can be cleaned with a soap solution. The diaphragm membrane can be cleaned with a soap solution after removing the ring that secures it.
2Do KaWe stethoscopes contain latex?
No, all KaWe stethoscopes are latex-fee.
3Do KaWe stethoscopes contain phthalate?
No, KaWe stethoscopes are fee of softeners/phthalate.

Examination lamps


1How can I clean my KaWe examination light?

KaWe examination lights have an extremely high-quality surface material that can be cleaned with typical cleaning agents. The filter is made of high-quality plastic. When cleaning, heed the following instructions:

Wipe the filter with a damp cloth (never use a dry cloth).

After cleaning the filter, wipe it with an anti-static agent using a lint-free cloth.

2What is the lifespan of the included LEDs?
The LEDs have a lifespan of approx. 40,000 hours.
3Can individual LEDs on my KaWe Masterlight LED be replaced?
Yes, however to replace single LEDs, the examination light must be sent back to KaWe so that it can be recalibrated after the LEDs have been successfully replaced.
4What are the different mounting options for the KaWe Masterlight?
LED 10/15: wall and table top version. 20/30 (F): stand only
